What is the working principle of the disc granulator?
The disc granulator consists of a large disc, a large gear, a drive assembly, a frame, a base, a scraper holder, and a non-powered scraper. Its working principle is as follows: the main motor drives a pulley and belt, which transmit power through a speed reducer to a small gear; this small gear meshes with a large gear fixed to the bottom of the disc, causing the granulation disc to rotate. Once the material enters the granulation disc, it moves in a spiral upward and tumbling motion along the disc wall, driven by the combined forces of centrifugal force, friction, and gravity. As a binding agent (such as water or slurry) is sprayed, the material particles rub against, compress, and adhere to one another, gradually agglomerating into spheres. Continuous batch production is achieved through the constant rotation of the disc and the continuous feeding of material.
The equipment’s inclination angle can be precisely adjusted between 30° and 60°, and the rotation speed can be controlled as required; particle size and sphericity can be flexibly regulated by adjusting parameters such as the disc’s inclination angle and rotation speed.
