How does a cage crusher work?
The core components of a cage crusher consist of two sets of cage assemblies—an inner set and an outer set—that rotate at high speeds in opposite directions. The machine is powered by two electric motors: one drives the larger cage to rotate in one direction, while the other drives the smaller cage to rotate in the opposite direction.
Material enters the inner cage assembly from the feed hopper and is pulverized by the repeated impact of high-speed steel bars (cage bars). The material undergoes progressive crushing as it moves from the inner cage to the outer one; the entire process can be summarized as three stages of breakage: first, the material impacts the inner cage bars for initial crushing; next, the accelerated material collides with the counter-rotating outer cage bars for further breakage; finally, the material is flung outward from the cages, completing the final stage of pulverization. The crushed material is then discharged from the bottom of the machine.
